1. What we collect
When you create an account, you give us:
- Your name, birth date (to check you are 18 or over), email or phone number, and a password or sign-in method.
- Your profile: photos, hometown, profession, a short bio, and tribe only if you choose to add it.
- Your Circle posts: one photo or short video with a caption, which lives for 24 hours.
- Your chats: messages, photos and short videos you send to other members.
- Your approximate location, with your permission, so we can show people near you.
- Reports and blocks you make, and reports made about you.
- Bantu+ purchase records from Google Play. We never see your card details.
- Basic device and usage data (device type, app version, crash logs) to keep the app working.
2. How we use it
We use your information to run Bantu: to show you people near you, nearest first; to deliver your Circle posts and chats; to check that members are adults; to act on reports and blocks; to process Bantu+; and to fix bugs. We do not sell your information. We do not show you advertising based on your profile.
3. What other people see
Other members see your first name, age, photos, hometown, profession, bio, tribe if you added it, your Circle posts while they are live, and your rough distance from them (for example “3 km away”).
Nobody ever sees your exact location, your email address, your birth date or your phone number.
4. Location
Bantu asks for your location so it can show people within about 100 km of you, nearest first. We store an approximate location, not a precise one, and we only show other members a distance. You can turn location off in your phone settings; Bantu will then use the city you set on your profile.
5. Who we share with
We share information only with services that help us run the app: hosting and storage, push notifications, crash reporting, and Google Play for Bantu+ payments. They may only use it to provide the service to us. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our members.
6. How long we keep it
- Circle posts are removed from the app after 24 hours and deleted from our servers within [N] days.
- Chats are kept while both accounts exist.
- When you delete your account, your profile, photos, posts and chats are deleted within [N] days. Reports and blocks involving your account are kept for up to [N] months for safety, with your identifying details removed.
- Purchase records are kept as long as the law requires.
7. Your choices
- Edit or remove anything on your profile at any time.
- Delete a Circle post before its 24 hours are up.
- Block or report anyone. A report also blocks both ways.
- Delete your account and data from the app: Account, then Delete account at the bottom. Full steps are on the Delete your account page.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by emailing support@bantulove.com.
8. Adults only
Bantu is for people aged 18 and over. We check age at sign-up. If we learn that a member is under 18, we remove the account and its data.
9. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
